Ride Category: Loop
Ride Type Ratio: 50% gravel road 50% singletrack
Ride Distance: 14 miles
Ride Time: 2.5 to 3.5 hours
Trailhead Directions: Take exit 95 off I-5. Follow Littlerock Road for a
few miles to the Waddell Creek Road intersection, turn right. Continue to the
next intersection, turn left onto Sherman Valley Rd, continue to the next
intersection, turn right onto Noschka gravel road. Drive 1.5 miles or so to the
first intersection at the gate to Old Town Bordeaux, park here..
Route Description: Take gravel road C-8000 up (don't turn left at the
intersection with road C-8200 100 yards up) about 6 miles (don't turn off on
any of the spur roads) to the road intersection with C-4000, follow this up to
the intersection with Trail #30 on left, about 1.5 miles. Descend Trail #30
through the intersection with Mt Molly Loop to Molly Porter #3 on right, and
back down through the intersection of C-8200 and C-8000 then 100 yards to
the right where you parked.
Ride Summary: The road climb up C-8200 is steady for a few miles and
then gets abruptly steeper, a nice progressive climb, and then it gets really
steep. One of the steepest sustained road climbs in Capitol Forest the upper
section of C-4000 is brutal. Fun huh? You know who you are. "The Wall".
The descent down Trail #30 is the steepest sustained singletrack descent in
Capitol Forest and full of rocks and ruts to keep it interesting, connecting to
Molly Porter #3 is pure fun, there are lots of berms and jumps from here
down.
